Tenured Professor, Division Chief; Associate Director for Research at Project ECHO and Core Director of the Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Research Design (BERD) at the UNM Clinical and Translational Research Science Center (CTSC). She is a Core Director of the Research Design, Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CRDEB) for the Mountain West Clinical Research Infrastructure Network (CTR-IN)PhD degree in epidemiology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1995 after completing the MPH program in epidemiology and biostatistics at the same institution. She completed her postdoctoral studies at the University of California in San Francisco at the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies in 1998. She also took part in a public health fellowship at Municipal Health Service, Amsterdam in HIV prevention in 1996. She is a Professor at Programa de Pós-Graduação em Medicina e Saúde da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Federal da Bahia and Reseacher at Laboratório de Pesquisa em Infectologia, Hospital Universitário Professor Edgard Santos, Universidade Federal da Bahia, Salvador Bahia Brazil.
