Defense and Qualification

To request the HALF-TERM QUALIFICATION EXAM AND DEFENSE, the student must be enrolled in the courses MED 794 - Exame de Qualificação (Qualification Exam) and MED 797 - Trabalho de Conclusão (Graduation Completion Work) in the required semester;

Student and advisor are responsible for the selection, composition, and time schedule arrangement for the defense and its examining committee;

The student is responsible for handing a copy of their dissertation and thesis for each committee member 30 days prior to the date of the half-term qualification exam and defense. Any other agreement is the sole responsibility of advisor and student; the Program’s coordination will not mediate changes in the deadline for submission;

The half-term qualification or thesis should be handed in the printed and spiral-bound versions to the PPgMS Secretariat, along with the half-term qualification/defense form, completed and signed at least 30 days prior the event, and the PPgMS will arrange room reservation, multimedia material, necessary documentation, and announcement;

For the approval of the Half-Term Qualification/Defense Examining Committee by the course council, the researcher must submit to the Program Secretariat the Referral Term for Committee Appointment (template available on the website), signed by the advisor and with all the complete information. This item is part of the Program deposit and the form must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the qualification committee;

In the referral terms there are the established number for the qualification and defense committees and the number of copies to be delivered.
